Who is that lady on your tv ads?
The ‘Marden’s Lady,’ as everyone has come to call her, is an actress born and raised right here in Maine. Her real name is Karmo, and she was born and raised in Norway, Maine, and currently resides in the Scarborough area. Karmo has been interested in acting, theater and comedy much of her life, and has a Master’s Degree from Boston University as a Playwright. Although the ‘Marden’s Lady’ character, actions and speech are a bit of a humorous exaggeration, Karmo certainly has quite a sense of humor that she brings to the table for us, and our filming sessions are quite fun, to say the least!

She sure is quite a character! Why do you guys go a little ‘over the top’ with your ads with her?

The ‘Marden’s Lady’ was never created to be an impersonation of anyone or any type of people. Anything of the sort is purely coincidental. Karmo created and developed the character. Marden’s uses that character in our television ads, as a humorous method of standing out amongst the throngs of advertisements each of us are presented with every day. No matter where you stand on your opinion of the character in our ads, one thing is without a doubt; you certainly will remember seeing the ad! Besides, we’re still just a Maine owned and operated family business, and enjoy having some fun, just like all Mainers!
